The League Rules for the 2014 MFL are provided here for information.
1.
The Mixed Fall League
(MFL) will bowl for 11 consecutive Sundays at 5:30 pm at Limerick Bowl. There will be 10 weeks of regulation play
from 07-SEP-2014 (Kickoff Night) to 09-NOV-2014. Finals Night (11th night position
round) and Awards Ceremony will be on 16-NOV-2014.
2.
League Teams:
a.
Interested parties
must sign up by providing their contact information (email and cell phone) to
the League Managers.
b.
The League
Managers (and designees) are responsible for creating teams of 3 players based
on bowler averages and number of players, to systematically create teams with comparable
team handicaps, and to encourage greater social interaction between the league participants. All team players will be notified of their
team assignments via email prior to the league Kickoff Night.
i.
Teams will be
mixed, containing at least one female bowler.
ii.
The bowler’s most
recent Philly Pinoy Fall or Winter League average (or other official league
average) will be used to form the teams.
Players with no Philly Pinoy league (or other) average must play three
official games to set their average and be eligible to join the league.
iii.
Teams, and the
league itself, will have no subs (substitutes).
c.
Each team must
appoint a Team Captain, who will determine the team lineup and collect the
bowling fees due each league night.
d.
The Team Captains
will participate in the random drawing of their team number and team names (based
on Filipino fruits) on Kickoff Night. Match
play schedules for the season will be based on the team names/numbers and will
be announced on Kickoff Night.
3.
MFL Kickoff Night
on 07-SEP-2014 will start promptly at 5:00 pm, with Team Captains drawing lots
for their team name/number and League Managers discussing the final
league rules with Team Captains. All
league players MUST be present (or otherwise represented) at the Kickoff.
4.
Match play for
all weeks in regulation play will start promptly at 5:30 pm. Lanes will be freshly oiled per USBC
specifications, but league is not USBC-sanctioned.
5.
Team Captains
will collect the bowling fee of $15 for Philly Pinoy members and $20 for
non-members from their team mates before the start of bowling each week,
including Finals Night. NO PAY, NO PLAY.
6.
Handicap and
Scoring
a.
The 2014 MFL League
averages will be established on Kickoff Night.
Previous averages are only required/used to form the teams. In case of absence on Kickoff Night, vacant
scores of 150 for male and 125 for female will be used.
b.
Individual
handicap will be 90% based on score of 200.
For example, average of 150 will have handicap of (200-150)*0.9 = 45.
c.
Four-point system
will be used, with one point for each game won and one point for total pins per
series/night. A tie will give each team
0.5 points.
d.
Limerick Bowl
will manage scoring, team rankings and handicaps on behalf of the league. Scores, team standings and handicaps will be
available on the Limerick Bowl website (http://www.limerickbowl.com/), with
paper copies provided to team captains each week. Any corrections or disputes on scoring must
be brought promptly to the attention of the League Managers for resolution.
7.
Special situations
a.
A legal lineup
will consist of one player. Bowling MUST
begin when legal lineups (one player) from each team are present. No postponements for late players.
b.
Absentee score (blind
score) will be the player’s MFL average minus ten pins. Team Captains and League Managers must be
notified if a player will be absent or may be arriving late.
c.
Late comers may
bowl on a given night ONLY if no player from their team and the opposing team
has bowled the fourth frame of the first game by the time they arrive. The late comer’s absentee score (average
minus ten pins) will apply for the first game, and the late comer can only play
on the remaining games.
d.
A maximum of
three (3) prebowls per player will be allowed in regulation play (prebowls are
advance make-up sessions for planned absences on a league night).
i.
Players planning
to prebowl must notify both the League Managers and their Team Captain by the
Friday before (minimum two-day notice).
ii.
Prebowl time
slots at Limerick Bowl are available for scheduling on Monday to Friday from
9:00 am to 2:00 pm, on Sunday mornings, or on Sunday to Thursday from 9:00 pm
to closing. Call Limerick Bowl at 610-495-7143
to schedule.
e.
Bowling fees for
pre-bowls and absentee bowlers must be promptly paid by the following week of
regulation play, or the bowler cannot bowl (absentee score will be used).
f.
USBC rules will
apply in situations not covered above.
Special situations will be subject to arbitration by the League
Managers, in consultation with the Team Captains.
8.
All proceeds will
be allotted as cash prizes for participants.
Planned cash prizes will be announced to all league members by the third
week of league play.
9.
Lucky Ticket Raffles
will be held based on availability of non-bowling volunteers, proceeds of which
will be added to the cash prizes for participants.
a.
The raffle tickets
will sell for $1 for 1 ticket, $2 for 3 tickets and $5 for 10 tickets
b.
One lucky ticket
will be drawn each night, with 50% of proceeds from each night awarded to the holder
of the winning ticket, the remaining 50% going to the pot for prize money. Example, if $40 worth of tickets is sold on a
given night, the winning ticket holder gets $20, and the remaining $20 goes to
the pot for league prize money.
c.
Earnings that go
to the pot from these raffles will be distributed on finals/awarding night IN
ADDITION TO the planned prizes. The
awards structure is TBD.
