Combo Blog 2-for-1: MFL Weeks 10 and 11

The blog has been mighty tardy on the last month of our 2015 Mixed Fall League (MFL).  Only two more weeks left to our season: our Grand Finale Night is next week already!  With Week 12 upon us, and with lots to stories and info to share, the MFL Week 10 and Week 11 highlights are combined into this one blog for brevity.  But first, here are some important announcements.

ATTENTION, MFL Participants and Friends!

·        It is Filipino shirt day this coming Sunday, November 29, Week 12.

·        Play well tonight, dear MFL participants!  The individual prizes to be awarded next week on our Grand Finale Night, December 6, Week 13, shall be based on performances of the MFL participants up to Week 12 (this Sunday) only.  This allows your league organizers to have your prizes ready for awarding the following week.  If you have an outstanding individual performance at the Grand Finale, your prize will be…mucho superlatives and posterity in the Finale blog.

·        Our last night for MFL 2015 is only one week away!

o   We shall have potluck dinner at the Limerick Bowl Party Room on Grand Finale Night, December 6, Week 13.  Please come by 5:15 PM, please bring food to share, and please be prepared to stay a little later for the awards ceremony!

o   Please show your team spirit and wear team shirts (same color or theme) on our Grand Finale Night on Week 13.  After all, it is the last night to play with your MFL 2015 team and gain some points and try to change the rankings.  In alignment with our league rules and as discussed on Week 10 (Philly shirt night, with photos as evidence), no subs can play at our Grand Finale, BUT our subs are invited to come join our Grand Finale celebration.

o   Remember, team rankings will be based on your cumulative wins from Week 1 to Week 13 (no position round).  Cash prizes await!

·        We shall have a short league meeting after practice this Sunday, to remind everybody of these announcements.

WEEK 10 Highlights

Week 10, November 15, was Philly Team Theme (a.k.a. pili-tim-tim) night.  Lots of folks came decked in Eagles shirts, although the Eagles lost (again…).  There was a league meeting after practice where it was decided to stick to league rules and not allow substitutes during the last week of play (Grand Finale, formerly called our Finals week). Thank you for the group photo, May!

Week 10 Lanes 21-22:  Kamatis wins games 1 and 2 and total pins, while Patani wins game 3.  Joy subbed for a still recovering Giovie of Kamatis.

Week 10 Lanes 23-24: Labanos wins it all against ghost team Linga.

Week 10 Lanes 25-26: Except for a split in game three, all points were won by Talong against Upo.  Upo’s Edmer is out for the season with an injury: get well soon!

Week 10 Lanes 27-28: Mustasa wins game 1 but concedes the rest to Patola.

Week 10 Lanes 29-30: Sibuyas is able to grab game 1 before Bawang runs off with the rest of the points.

Week 10 Lanes 31-32:  Kalabasa and Sitaw are evenly matched and win two points each.  Such an exciting match, with Roy and yours truly spurring each other on to 200 games as Kalabasa won game 1 by 31 pins.  Game 2 goes to Sitaw by 22 pins.  Sitaw wins game 3 by 7 pins, and lo and behold, Kalabasa is able to grab total pins by two pins!  Remember those two pins….

Week 10 Lanes 33-34:  Luya takes all against Singkamas.

Let's  celebrate some pintabowlous performances!

WEEK 11 Highlights

There was no theme for Week 11, November 22, and we started late as we waited for the conclusion of an Adult-Child Tournament at Limerick Bowl. Our lanes were also shifted due to the tournament.  All bowling fees were due: thank you for your payments!

Week 11 Lanes 27-28:  After a slow start, Mustasa wins three points against the ghost team Linga.

Week 11 Lanes 29-30: Two new players!  Robert Valdivia played as a sub for Team Singkamas, while Kathryn Nicolas subbed for Chona in Team Patani.  Team Patani wins it all against Singkamas.

Week 11 Lanes 31-32: Patola sweeps Kamatis.

Week 11 Lanes 33-34: Good team effort wins the day and all points for Labanos against Bawang.

Week 11 Lanes 35-36: Oh the humanity! It started out pretty good, Kalabasa winning game 1 against Luya, but Luya took the rest, including a heart breaking total pinfalls win by two pins.    Remember that two pin difference for total pins with Sitaw last week? Karma Chameleon, my golly golay!  Nonoy the Merciless (20, 40, 60 pins above average!) and Gigi the Consistent more than made up for a lackluster prebowl from Atit.  Desi and I turned pro but could not overcome Nonoy’s firepower.

Week 11 Lanes 37-38:  Talong takes all from Sibuyas.

Week 11 Lanes 39-40:  Upo sits on Sitaw, ouch!  Jops Datu subbed for Edmer (out for season) of Upo.

Just two more weeks to go
Time flew too fast, I know
Our Grand Finale Night draws near
We'll soon close out MFL's third year

Much as we've enjoyed offering this league
After three years we feel the fatigue
This is JCSquared's final one, dear
We shall be retiring, I fear

Salamat sa inyong pagtangkilik
Sa munting ligang hitik sa mga gimik
Ngayon kami na'y mananahimik...
