It is an interesting week for the MFL with a total of ten (10) planned absentee bowlers. Most teams should have a quick, short night against some prebowl or blind scores.
- Susan Sanchez - PISBOL
- Edwin Sanchez - MONAY
- Paolo Quimbo -PISBOL
- Ivan Masanga - TAPSILOG
- Ryan Ablaza - GOTO
- JP Tanedo - KROPEK
- Roy Compendio - KROPEK
- James Que -SISIG
- Chelo Compendio - MONAY
- Mitchie Masanga - LAPU-LAPU = actually played tonight
Apologies for delayed arrival of Capucaos after encouraging everybody to show up at 6:30 pm. Had a busy schedule this weekend... Let us still try to make it by 6:30 pm next week if possible. Thank you!
Back to our marquee match for tonight, our spotlight team,Team KROPEK, is comprised of our VP Roy Compendio as team captain, lady bowler Alice Deo and previous league bowler JP Tanedo (we missed him this past winter, but he played in 2012). They had two wins and tied against Team TAPSILOG on Week 1, when they wore their tiger red team shirts, but were beaten soundly by an explosive and uber-impressive team performance by Team DAING last week. They are raring for a win, especially after I vetoed their request for a change in team name from KROPEK to KILAWIN (Killer-Win)....

Team BALUT fought hard but could not get its groove tonight against Alice's awesome play coupled with Roy's stellar prebowl scores. We struggled to meet our averages, although our potential showed = keep fighting! Alas Team BALUT is sadly still in last place as we were soundly swept by Team KROPEK. Na-walis ni Alice. We took care of her, she played so well against us!
Playing right next to us was the DAING vs. GOTO match: Battle of the Joels. The two Joels were bowling up a storm, throwing strike after strike. There was a lot of good bowling going on in that pit from each player, exciting! Alas the formidable DAING team prevailed. The GOTOs had a 600 series and still lost, wow. Stellar job, Team DAING: Joel, Commish Jay and Lanie = galing galing niyo talaga! DAING is hot hot HOT, daing!
Now for some OFFICIAL RESULTS:
- Top Teams are now DAING, MONAY and LAPU-LAPU.
- PISBOL is in fourth place with 7 wins. GOTO, TAPSILOG, and KROPEK are in the middle with 6 wins and 6 losses a-piece.
- Bottom Teams are ADOBO (8th), SISIG (9th) and BALUT (10th). I guess next week's SISIG vs. BALUT match is another Battle at the Bottom *sigh*
- 200 clubbers are Paolo (222 and 219), Joel D (221 and 201), Joel C (243 and 215), and Romy (215). My Go Papa Joel's 243 is the highest single scratch game in the league to date = yebah!
- Top male scorers (highest individual averages to date) are Paolo (206), Romy (201) and Joel C (188).
- Top female scorers (highest individual averages to date) are Jing (164, sinuwerte...played slightly below average tonight), Mitchie (156, great night!) and Chelo (151, she held on while her blind scores played).
- Best live performance by a couple tonight is won hands down by the dynamic Deo duo: Alice had a 157 average for the night and is now 4th female scorer with league average of 150, while Joel D is now a 200 clubber and the 4th top male scorer with 178 average. Hanep!
- Best prebowl performance by a couple is from our rookie couple, Edwin and Susan. Galing niyo, nananalo ang mga team ninyo sa ganda ng laro niyo kahit wala kayo!
Since we were out of raffle tickets and there was limited player attendance, we raffled a complimentary $10 Wawa gift card tonight. Francis/Atit (PISBOL), playing all alone against Team ADOBO with prebowl scores from teammates Paolo and Sansu, was the owner of the lucky ticket. Congratulations!
As our prebowlers and regular practice patrons at the Palace have realized and come to know, the freshly-oiled, USBC league lane conditions, that have resulted in pretty awesome play on Sunday nights, are hard to find on a regular week night at Palace. The closest you can come to replicate these lane conditions is on a Friday night on the inner lanes (lanes 21-40), after 4 pm on a weekday (just oiled for league) and on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Regardless of lane condition, you will find your fellow MFL bowlers practicing on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights after 9 pm, and on Friday nights from 6-9:30 pm just before the lights go off. So come join us for practice!
We are looking forward to having most of our bowlers back next week. Till then, check out the official league standing sheets posted on the Palace website.
See y'all at the lanes: bowl, baby, bowl!
